Correct use of Sound field systems in schools

Training is the key to the correct use of sound field systems in schools.  The Ewing Foundation, which attended Guernsey Hearing Matters 15 on 18th April,  provides training for Education departments in the UK and Guernsey.  Their aim is ‘Promoting inclusion and achievement for deaf children through listening and speaking’.

The link above has videos – sample 3 shows the correct use of an FM system (but the principle is exactly the same for sound field). Guernsey Hard of Hearing Association also has details about the use of the Swift TX transmitter used with the system. It has a mute facility which is activated by pressing the on/off button once and then once again when the teacher wants to use the Soundfield. We can put interested parties in contact with the Audiologist in Education in Jersey, Ciara Jones, and she will be able to put us in touch with one of the teachers who are using the sound field equipment on a daily basis.
